A few questions about a WD

Bought a nice little WD last week.
Guy said the hydraulics didn't work, thought it was a linkage or something.
Turns out all the cam followers were totally shot, all that was left was the frames.
Anyway I found a used pump that should work.
While I was tinkering I noticed a leak on the PTO housing so I changed the seal. The lube was pretty grungy so it's a good thing I went in.

Anyway, I've found that the hyds take 20nd but what should I put in the PTO?
And what goes in the final drive? I may have a problem there too, just haven't looked yet.

What are the chances of finding a proper Allis remote cylinder? Are there aftermarket products available that handle the high pressure?

Thanks sammyd

You should have gotton a LOT of fluid when your drained the PTO as its oil is common with the transmission. There are 3 fill plugs on the left side of the transmission case. The one up front (The one with the dipstick) is the hydraulics, the next one and the one behind the clutch pedal are fill and level points for the common case that houses the transmission, hand clutch and rearend. You need to remove both plugs and add to both to fill the trans/rearend because the fuild must go through a bearing to fill from one and takes a while. The universal trans/hydraulic fluids will work in both the hydraulics and trans/rearend and you will not have to remember which fluid goes where. Or if you are into 1950s lubrication then use 80/90 in the trans and aw32 in the hydraulics. You can also use the 20w non-detergent motor oil reccommended in the book but that would be my last choice personaly.

Look on the upper left side of the ytmag homepage, click on "tractor manuals" and order a manual for your WD like I did. The manuals are not expensive and contain all the information you'll need. Hope this helps, Don
