D17 hydraulic return

Can someone please tell me if I just don't see the plug or does the series III not have one?
Also if there isn't a plug on the left side is it possible to drill and tap the side of trans to pipe the return there?

I'm not sure what the SerIII has for a sump under the torque tube for the hyd reservoir, but if you're going to tap a hole for a return line, make sure you can get all the chips out. If it has a sump, you could easily remove it before tapping.

I did this to the SerIV I'm restoring.
Actually, it turned out for the better to remove the sump, 'cause the screen was almost plugged and there was a heckofa lot of metal fines inside.
There is a large donut-shaped magnet inside on the pickup tube to catch the fines and it was completely covered.

Here's a pic of the torque housing on the SerIV where I tapped an extra hole.
