I'm getting to be an old dog now...Yesterday on Father's day I was thinking about my Dad and I remembered when I was a kid my Dad and brothers calling the Allis'... Allis Chamblers. I caught on later to the actual pronunciation...but I was a much wiser kid back then and never corrected my Dad or my older brothers. You just didn't do that. They must have known the difference but called them they way they wanted to. I miss my Dad.

I have a cousin who thinks its pronounced "Allis Charmers".

Well, I'm sure JD's are pretty good tractors but I don't like paying more for green paint. That came up when I bought a lawn tractor a couple of years back. The JD 46" cut was $3,000 + and an MTD Yard Machine 46" cut 21 HP was $1,250 atually about $1,150 with my discount coupon at Home Depot. This is my 3rd season with the Yard Machine, I've brush hogged with it and cut about 2 acres of lawn. Not a whimper, not a problem... I take care of it..might buy another one. I also bag some of my clippings to put around my 160 tomato plants.

Yea color not that important to me either. Wow that is alot of tomatoes. I have eight plus peppers for my salsa and that keeps me busy. Do you prune the sucker branches or just let go?

Na, I just let the suckers go. I don't believe they cause a problem. I do remove bad brancnes and leaves, plus bad tomatoes. I will probably apply some light spray of sevin just to keep down the worms and other varmits.
We also grow 5 acres of peaches n' cream sweet corn. 5 - 80' rows of green beans, 6 - 70' rows of okra, some sugar baby water melons.
