HI,found this message board and I also have same problem with water in oil..I just bought this 53 allis chalmers last week, the guy of coure told me this was in perfect shape,I overlooked checking the oil and after running 10 minutes noticed oily-water leaking from valve cover, also has knocking noise at higher rpm..I would never go back on the guy,you but waht you buy as is..I just want to know where a good place is to start and does anybody have a complete good engine for this..I also noted climbing a simple hill clutch slips...Any help would be appreciated..WE want to keep the tractor..THanks,,Rob

Rob I put a new clutch in my model C last summer. You have to split the tractor in half, it not to bad of a job and only took me about 3 hours styart to finish. I had my clutch rebuilt for $36.00.

the configuration of the muffler in the c's and b's allows water to trace right into the manifold, and then into the oil. I thought I had plug or gasket issue after leaving it out in a 'gully washer', but after changing the oil and filter, it's stayed clean.

I jsut had that type of problem with a couple of C engines. Yes water going in the muffler can and will get water in the oil, but it can also be a bad freeze plug in the head. Theres 3 of them sitting under the rocker arm shaft. It can also be a sleeve seal or haed gasket problem. On my Cs one was the freeze plug and the other one was a sleeve/head gasket problem. By the way water going in the exhaust will send an engine to the scrap yard fast since it will cause the engine to lock up and a few other big problems
