Can not get crankshaft belt pulley off-WD45

I am trying to get the crankshaft pulley off my WD45 so I can replace the seal. I can not get the bolt set screw loose . Can I apply heat or is that not a good thing to do. I am worried that I will break the bolt if I put any more force on it. What is next step if I do break it off? Thanks to anyone who can help me out

After you get the set screw out and try to take the pulley off be careful not to apply heat in one area to much, I did that on my Allis C and the pulley welded itself to the crankshaft. It was a mess.

Does your setscrew have a locknut on it, and you loosened that first? Unscrew it as far as possible to get access to put penetrant on the threads. Turn ther crankshaft so you can whack the setscrew a couple good hits as well. Heat won't hurt anything since you're replacing the seal anyway.

Heat will help. I also recommend that you get a good penetrating oil like PB Blaster, Kroil or Gibbs. PB Blaster can be obtained at Wally World, Kroil can be bought online at www.kanolabs.com
I have never seen Gibbs, but lots of folks seem to swear by it. Any of the three should work fine. You may need to clean off the crud around the set screw for the penetrant to get to the threads. Soak and heat, repeat as required. Should come loose.

Thanks guys. I will try the penatrating oil and heat if that does not work.
