deutz d90-06 bosch rotary injection - how to prime

rebuilt motor as well as bosch rotary injection pump & injectors two years ago. ran aok. ran out
of fuel 10 feet from gas tank. am not sure that
i am priming it in correct sequence. fuel tank
above motor feeds into pump in three places.
crack each injector cylinder & getting fuel with
no bubbles at each cylinder injector. starts to run for 5 secs and quits. towed. no luck.
any ideas ? have service manual for motor & tractor but refences only in line 6 pump.

If your filter is a spin-on type that is mounted with the threaded end down, you may find that if you remove the filter housing (also the oil filter housing on my 45-06), and turn it upside down while bleeding that things will work much better. I fought the D45-06 for five years before I tried this trick. Since then, I have had no trouble. I wonder if the German filters are made with standpipes in them to eliminate this problem?

Sounds like you have either an air leak or a plugged fuel line or filters. Sometimes foreign material will get drawn in to the system if you run very low on fuel.

There is a bleeder on the fuel pump, most likely. But I would say that cracking the injector line and cranking it should bleed it eventually.

I get aggravated every time I change the filters on my Duetz. The only advice I can give that I have success with is to bleed the injectors one at a time when the engine fires and leave the throttle in the wide open position. It usually takes almost 5 minutes for me to get the fuel system purged.
