wd vs wd45

Going to look at a wd45 this weekend. I was looking at Terry Deans book and it shows an almost 1100 weight difference between the two. What is the difference that causes such a huge weight increase on the wd45 over the wd? Thanks alot. Mike

I have to work to get my WD up to 3500 lbs. to pull in the 3500 lbs. class. It is complete but the tires are not loaded. Without a little weight here and there that I have added I think it would weigh about 3400 lbs. There is really no difference that would account for much weight difference between thetwo tractors. Larger rear tires and wider rims, a little, other than that they are about the same as far as what would weigh.

The WD45 had bigger rear tires, they could hold more fluid.
Also, the snap coupler equipment would have been included on the '45, as well as fender extensions.
A little bit here, a little bit there.

My information shows the WD gas unballasted at 3721# and ballasted at 6313#, shipping was 4000#. The WD45 gas unballasted was 3955#, ballasted 8005# and shipping was 4465#. I've found that just like information that is shared on the web, not all print information is as good as it could be.

Equally equiped there isn't more than a couple hundred pounds different. The 45 probably came with fluid in the tires and possibly a set of weights. The onlt real casting difference is in the front pedestal and the engine differences that would account for only a few pounds.

That makes sense.The book shows 3388 pounds for the wd, and 4465 for the wd45. Loaded tires and some weights would make up that difference pretty quick I guess. Thanks alot. Mike
