: : I plan to replace a sleeve in my '39 AC Mod WC. How much of a problem is it to insert the new sleeve. I am concerned about getting the O rings seated. : you dont need to freeze "wet" sleeves. you first need to make sure the top and bottom bore is clean. do this by inserting your new sleeve without the o rings on them. this dry fit will ensure that your sleeve is not binding anywhere. there should be a few thousandths "standout" on the top flange. in other words, you need for the outer edge of the sleeve to stand a little taller than the top of the block. when the head gasket and head are installed, this standout will ensure a good seal and that the top of the sleeve wont move. once you have the dry fit like you want, you place your orings on, and just before youre ready to install the sleeve, oil them with vegetable oil. or, john deere has a special lube that works great. you want the sleeve to spin with your hand on the dry fit. if it wont, clean some more. pay particular attention to the oring bore and the top. good luck, grape I agree with grapeape with one additional check, and that is for burrs above the o-ring grooves. The sleeve may fit perfect dry, and there still could be a shape edge or burr that could damage the O-ring on installation. Good luck TED
