How do I remove it? Is it just the one large nut on the center of the shaft thats holding it or is there something more?

thanks for the advice. I am going to remove the entire assembly. now I need to find the cap to fill the empty hole.

Caps are not easy to find. You can fab one from a flat piece of steel, matching the bolt pattern, and sealing with RTV, etc. There is a seal between the frame and the casting to keep it from leaking there. Used to be caps with a press fit in the hole.

If you only want to disengage it, you loosen the setscrew about 1/2-3/4 inch, then pull it outwards until the setscrew goes into a groove cut in the tube.

Do want the entire assembly off the tractor? Loosen the jam nut and setscrew on the top side of the casting that the pulley fits in to on the tractor. Pull the assembly out. Oil will leak- need to have a cover to put back in place. Originally had a press fit steel internal cap. To remove the pulley from the shaft, remove the nut. I think the shaft is tapered. Operator manual details in/out setting of the pulley- important to get the right hole for the setscrew. I&T service manual has the cut-away diagram showing bearings, etc.
