Bought what was supposed to be an AC B and tractor # starts with a C495---, and the engine # starts with a CE . This tractor has a wide front,electric start , but no lights or hydraulics. It would appear to be an assembled/modifed C with a B frt. end??? Rod in NH was telling me I could put hydraulics on the tractor if the pto housing was correct and had a blockoff plate. Mine appears to have a frost plug 2" in dia. on the oppiste side from the belt pully,is this the right pto housing,or is there a different one? Also will the CA hydraulics go on a c/b tractor?I found a pump on Ebay yesterday off a CA , but it didn't look like it would bolt onto my pto housing. Just dont want to buy something that won't fit. any help would be appreciated Shawn

Shawn,

There was an optional wide adjustable front used on the C. If your front axle is a solid arched one, then it definitely is from a B. The tractor serial indicates at least a C transmission. The CE engines were used on Cs and also on later Bs. It sounds like you have an early pto housing that doesn't have the proper opening for a hydraulic pump. The one I was talking about has a rectangular opening about 5"x4" with a 3/8" dia stud at each corner. The housings that were all set up for adding a hydraulic pump simply had a flat, rectangular plate attached to those studs instead of the pump. Since you don't have that, you also likely do not have the cam lobes on the pto shaft to drive a pump either. Looks like you will need to get an entire pto/belt pulley assembly that is intended to take a pump if you want to use the stock B/C pump. Even if you had the correct housing, the CA pump would not work because it is a four piston pump instead of a two piston one used on the Bs and Cs. Keep an eye on Ebay, as this stuff comes up all the time.

I agree with Old, it sounds like you would have to trade out the complete housing for one that has the ability to mount the hydraulic pump. If that is the case, I'd bet you'd have to get a PTO shaft with the cams on it to run the pump, too.

It sounds scarier than it is....you can find those housings if you look around, many with the pump already in them. Ebay is a good place to start.

The CA has spin out rear wheels on them. As far as that pump I can't tell you much other then I have a C I'm parting out and it has a pump on it. But it sounds like you don't have the right PTO houseing since it should have a flat plate with 4 or 5 bolts holding it on, thats where the pump goes. If you looking at it from the rear the pump plate would be on the right hand side of the PTO houseing. I have 2 -Cs I'm parting out and one has the pump and the other one doesn't have the pump and the houseing is the type you can't put a pump on.
