maybe a 2.5 chevy or a 2.5 jeep, but it won't last as long as the allis engine. how long has it lasted so far? 60 years? even an iron duke chevy is only good for 4000 hours, maybe.

Why would you even consider this? Either of those two engines don't make power until about twice the speed of the allis, they don't have a govenor to keep speed constant, etc.. The cost of replacing or rebuilding the allis is way less than the expense and time of a "rigged " conversion.

I'm wondering why anyone would do this. The weight of the tractor precludes putting more horsepower on the ground.

No they will not bolt up and neither will any other car motor and yes things have to be modified, "seriously"? that"s in the eyes of the beholder but swaps like you are talking about are for the mechanicly talanted not for the challanged. To answer the next question people usualy ask, no there is no "kits" to do it.

I put a 57 392 Chrysler poked and stroked to 460 cid in an 88 Oliver once. As I said, MAJOR MODS. We used an automantic trans on front of the tractor trans. If you are wanting to bolt up where the OEM four cylinder is at again MAJOR MODS. It could possibly be done, if you have a extremly well equipped machine shop and you might also need a foundry.
