B/C Oil Pressure Problems, Part Deux

Well, I seem to have my oil pressure problem sort of solved. I primed the pump as instructed and voila, oil pressure. But now, after coming up to pressure on the gauge w/ in 2-3 seconds, when at operating temp., the pressure drops down to the VERY bottom end of "Normal". When it's cold, it takes 3-4 minutes to drop that low. I know these critters didn't get that good of pressure to begin with, but is that normal, or too low. If too low, am I looking at gauge, pump problems, or something else? I've run it now for couple of hours since priming the pump and changing the oil. I've worked it all intermittently, for 10-15 minutes, shut it down for 10-20 minutes while I clear out the stumps, shrubs I just pulled and it doesn't seem to be acting strangely, knocking, or losing power. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

sometimes a little thicker grade oil helps in the old tractor. also the filter is cleaning oil and dumping to sump, which causes some oil pressure drop. remove the filter nd check the 1/4 inch tube inside it. should have two small holes in the top of the tube to feed the filter. close up a hole or reduce the size and you will filter less, and gain pressure to the motor bearings.

That will be fine if your not planning to plow several acres and then fit the ground. If you were going to work it 6 - 8 hours a day for several days in a row I would check to see if the pump needs rebuilt. If your going to putter around with it a coupla hours now and then it will probly out last you.
