Ok cal. My driveshaft is straight and balanced BUT wobbles. Can it be my yoke or is it going to be the pinion shaft? Wobble at the cv joint end is nothing. The further back you go the worse it gets. When I pulled the rear u-joint off it came off easy; not like the yoke is bent, but I guess it could be bent behind the flange yet ahead of the pinion. Ran it only at idle as I didnt want to sling it off again.Have any experiance in this area of an 8550? Once again thanks for your time. davids p.s. Before this is over, You"ll probably be able to claim me as a dependant. Thanks again, davids

If you shaft has splines the u-joints may not be in phase. To try draw it a one piece shaft with a u-joint 1/2 on each end should look like this o-o . I think most pto shafts that slide together at the tractor hook-up are made rectangular so the u-joints on it cannot be out of phase. U-joints in phase permit the shaft to flex properly when it is not running in a straight line.

sounds like the shafts are worn at the splines where they slide in and out.. grab it with your hand, while its not running mind you, and shake it back and forth, look for play in the splines. once they are worn they will cause the shaft to wobble

splines are tight and the shaft is "timed" properly. Shaft was .008 out of round and after messing with it for a few minutes ends up at .004. All joints are new and pulled tightly and evenly into the yokes. RE-balanced it just to be sure and as my luck is running it was still balanced perfectly. I guess next I"ll jack up the rear axle, attach a dial indicator to the rear yoke and see if the pinion is straight or the yoke is bent. Any and all help is as always appreicated. Thanks, davids
