I just inherited a AC WC with an 1889 farm house we just bought to restore. I am trying to find out the year it was produced and approximate value. It has an electric start with a retro-fit Woods 60" belly mower on it. Runs great except PTO won't disengage. Anyone have any input.

If WD or WD45, s/n will be on rear of left side of rear axle steel stamped into flat spot behind (or rare possibility on top of) left brake cover area. Also as someone previously noted WC will have hand brakes and WC and WD will have bolted on access plate on right side of engine. WD45 has no access plate - S/N for motor will be on left side steel stamped into flat space behind carb - WD motor will start WD followed by up to 6 digits and letter suffix, 45 motor will start 45-

What kind of brakes? WC had hand brakes, WD and WD45 had foot brakes.

The lever to engage or disengage the PTO is located on the lower right hand side of the transmission. You can reach the lever from the tractor's seat. Pull out to engage. Push to disengage. It may be stuck. Try some solvent and work the lever - it should free up.

Pumpkin = differential.

The serial number is located on a flat machined area directly above the center of the differential. You should be able to see the machined area when you are standing behind the tractor.

I am new at this so need some patience from the experienced. I may have jumped the gun a little - the previous owner thought it was around a 1956 - this would be a WD then? What is the pumpkin you refer to?

Well if it is a 1956 tractor that would make if nither a WD or WC but a WD45 which has even more HP then either one of the other 2.

Hi Folks My question is would a clutch kit be the same for a 1956 Alis Chalmers WD45 4cyl GAS (Grader) as a WD45 Tractor? Thank you in advance Steve

They didn't make a WD-45 grader. There was a WC speed patrol which is a grader but that is it. Then they went to the D series graders which where much bigger. Now with that said it could be a WC speed patrol with a WD45 engine in it, my speed patrol had a WD45 engine in it when I first got it. Theres pictures of it in the web page that you can look at and maybe give you a better idea of what you really have

Thank you Old I"m going by what my excavator tells me . His Grader seems to have clutch problems while he was trying to grade my new road off . The info he has supplied me with is all I know for now . I will however find out more and get back to you folks . I cant thank you enough for your help. I write for a number of hot rod forums and mags and get ask questions all the time so it feels a bit okward being on the (I dont know) end. Thanks for the link to your site, very nice . Steve

look on the rear pumpkin for the serial #. then come back with it, or check the serial # guide on this site. lol with the wc, nice tractor. Bob
