I RESTORED A 1941 ALLIS CHLMRS (MODEL B)TO HER NEW "BRIDAL"CONDITION. IT HAS FAIRBANKS MAG AND RUNS GREAT. HOWEVER NEW PROFESSIONALLY REBUILT GEN AND VOLTAGE REGWILL NOT CHARGE NEW 6 VOLT BAT. ANY ANSWERS OR SUGGESTIONS?

If you restored it to original, there is no voltage regulater. The box on the top of the generator is just to keep the battery from discharging when the engine is off. The charge rate is regulated by the light switch. Switch in all the way means no charging. SWitch out part way is charge, and all the way is charge with lights on.

Did you polarize the generator when you installed it? With the tractor off, short the batt terminal on the regulator to the arm terminal momentarily with a piece of wire. You should see a spark. That'll get the properly wired system charging.

Regulator is either connected incorrectly or is not working correctly. These 6 volt system
used a cutout system where the field is opened
on the generator when it overcharged Check to
see if the relay closes.
