CA with water in oil

I have a CA I use to mow with. It normally runs great. The other day though I had a little trouble getting it started and after mowing a couple rounds it wasn't acting right so I pulled the dipstick to find water in the oil. I then noticed that the fan belt was broke. I figured it had gotten hot the last time I used it and blew a head gasket or cracked the head. I now have the head at the shop getting checked. I store this tractor outside in the summer. Is it possible this could have just been rain water, and the reason I had trouble starting it was because a cylinder was full? If the head is not cracked I will put it back together, but is there anything I can do to clean the water out of the block.

I left my B out in a gully-washer once and water got in thru the exhaust manifold because of the way the muffler goes down inside the manifold. I drained the carb, pulled the plugs, blew out the cylinders with air comp, changed the oil and filter, and put alittle oil in the cylinders b4 firing her up...she's fine now...no more milky oil and she stays in out of the rain.

I would bet that if it didn't boil over, which you would have seen, that you didn't damage it from heat. You may want to pull the pan and check for a leaky "O"ring on the bottom of the liners. You should be able to see drops of water, where it ils leaking, after it has sat for a whole. I agree that the plugs in the cylinder head are the first place to look.

Simce it got presumably got hot with the broken belt, It may well be a head gasket/warped/cracked head. BUT 9 times out of ten when this happens to me on a b, c or CA it is that one of the casting plugs rusted through in the top of the head under the valve train.
