7.61 horse power difference at the draw bar according to factory specs for the gas fueled tractors. 30.23 for the WD and 37.84 for the WD45. That is 25.17% more for the WD45. The WD came from the factory with a 201 cubic inch engine, while the WD45 had 226 cubic inches. It is no real trick to put WD45 parts in a WD block. The Nebraska tractor tests show that the AC WD gets 10.76 horse power hours per gallon of fuel and produces 34.63 maximum brake horse power, while the WD45 gets 11.39 horse power hours per gallon of fuel and produces a maximum brake horse power of 43.21 That is a difference in maximum brake horse power of 8.58 and that is why I initially stated a 9 horse power difference. In any case, the WD45 was able to make more horse power per gallon of fuel than the WD, according to the Nebraska test, when the tractors were new.
