I am getting a 333 planter ready to use. The planter has 78 seed units. The bottom of these units have a seed gate. I can find no setting for the seed gate. Am I correct in assumming the seed gate is either opened or closed? Thanks for the help.

mwb;We are also using a 333 with the 78s. I can look at this one. Do you have the side depth wheels, The ones by the disk openers?

Hey Monte, Thanks for the reply. I do not have those depth wheels. I have 74 units between the 78's for 15" bean rows. I'm not sure those depth wheels would fit.

mwb: You asked about the seed gate that is on the bottom of the box leave that wide open the only time I shut it is to plant out what corn is down in the seed disc area, other wise the air blows the corn all over and also to take the hopper off if there is corn in it. The 74 units are they the ones that have the disc openers and sort of a runner right behind them? They still use air and the seed disc. If they are I have lots of stories about them and they are not good.

Thanks for the help Monte. That's about what I had figured out for the seed gates. The book is kind of vague on the subject. The 74 units I have run a simple double disc and are a plate unit. They are the same unit I had on my 600. I do not expect any problems with them. The 78 units are new to me. I bought the planter to put beans in 15" rows. We are starting to do alot of late season spraying in our area (aphids, possible rust, late weeds) and I would like not to run down so many beans. I hope you don't have alot of bad stories about the 78 air units! Thanks again.

mjb; We bought the 78s to replace those units, the double disk runner units I should get the number off those all they did was dig ruts and plug.We have an old 4 row 500 planter and it has the plate units on it with double disk openers dont use it anymore went 6-30. Also bought a 333 with 10 units on it for beans. Iam looking for someone that could tell me how much preasure they run on the back packing wheel when they are using those side depth wheels.
