WD-45 year??

Can anyone tell me what year #148693 is and where it falls in the prodution for that year?
Also it was built without the belt pully or gear box for one. Does this play any part in its value? Thanks Macc

As to when produced, you probably wouldn't be far off from August 1953. WD production ended mid year 1953 and WD45 production followed.

Macc,I'm located close to Shelby-Mansfield area,I think I have a extra belt pulley asembly. All you do is slide it in to the marks and tighten the bolt on top. If interested let me know I'll sell it a lot cheaper than CT. Paul Anderson

The 1953 model year started with # 146607. I believe that they made just under 14,000 WD45's that year.That would lead me to believe that your tractor was built during the first 2-3 months of production.

1953 started with #146607 & ended with #160385 I don't understand your question about the belt pulley. The "gear box" for the belt pulley is an integral part of the bell housing. The drive gear is attached to the clutch shaft which also has the cams for the hydraulic pump and the drive gear for the PTO. It is not uncommon to see a WD-45 without a belt pulley; the hole in the frame/bell housing is simply filled with a gasketed metal cover. I'm not sure whether or not the tractors came from the factory with both the belt pulley ass'y. and the cover. I have a belt pulley ass'y. and a factory "tin can" cover for the gear end, presumably to keep it free of dirt when it is not installed in the tractor. It is rare to see a WD-45 without the PTO gear box, but that is possible. I fashioned a cover so I could continue using my WD after the PTO housing split. If there truly is no "hole" in the frame or bell housing, post a follow-up; there must be someone out there who would know why. Stationary engine bell housing? Good luck.

Thanks, it has a cover plate on the frame as you sugested,I'm not familular with allis so did'nt know what the cover was.If I can find a pulley does it simply bolt on where the cover is? Also anyone know where I can find a pulley and a spin out rim 28"? I've Faxed a couple places listed in this site but never got any replies.

Macc, The pulley ass'y. slides into hole in the bellhousing and is held in place with the setscrew and locknut. There are two settings; in all the way and the bevel gear meshes with the drive gear, part way out and the pulley can be locked in "neutral" (Bevel gear not engaged)

When you slide the pully assembly into the tractor frame there is a mark stamped on the pully shaft and a corresponding mark on the frame above the pully shaft. these two marks should be ligned up. Also when you remove the cover to slide the pully assembly into the tractor oil will run out. My dad use to run the tractor back wheel on a block to tilt the tractor to the other side from the pully to prevent the oil running out. You might put a pan down before you pull out the tin can plug also.
