i have just installed a new carb kit (tsv-24)
because the carb leaked fuel out of the intake.
now with new kit it still leaks.
i have ajusted float to the spec's and several other adjustments and still the carb leaks.
it leaks worse when turning over the engine but very little or none when setting still.

i never thought to check the vent or to make sure the float moves freely.

Rebuild your carb and make sure to put the new needle and seat in. Check the float to see if it has gas in it. Sometimes a small pin hole will allow gas to enter into the float and it will not close the needle/seat as it should. I have been there. Really dealt me a head ache before I found out what it was. Also make sure the float is not rubbing on the inside of the carb housing. It must float free in the tank of the carb. If the gas is coming out the intake, then deal w/the float. Sounds like it is not raising the needle, with enuf pressure to form a seal at the seat. Good luck..

If your carb kit did not include a new needle and seat, the kits are of little value. When you are changing the seat, be sure that the carb is smooth where the seat screws in. I've seen them with deep gouges there which allowed leakage around the base of the seat. A perfect needle can't stop that leak.

I have worked on a few of those carbs, but not recently. It does seem that if the fuel bowl vent is plugged up the carb will have those symptoms? I might be way off base, but maybe take it apart and make sure that all of the ports and passages are good and clean.

thanks for the help. could you tell me what the power jet plug is supposed to look like.
mine was replaced by a 1/4 npt plug.
i believe it is pulling to much fuel when i turn the engine over. mike
