allis chalmers manifold and generator HELP!!!!!

In reference to my intake/exhaust manifold should i be using any sealer around the manifold port holes??? Also have question about generator had one rebuilt and I installed do not think it is
charging any way to test it or any ideas on what i may do??? also installed the anti surge spring on the throttle shaft does not seem like it is in the correct spot can any body please help me

should not need sealer on the gasket.----- to test generator, ground the "F" terminal to the frame of the tractor. see if it charges now. if not, jumper the A terminal around the cutout relay striaght to the amp meter. see if that works. - with t he F terminal grounded and tractor running, put a volt meter across the A and F terminals and you should measure 7 volts output (if the battery is connected. take off the A wire to ampmeter and you voltage will go up to 15 or so.
