Hi again have a 41 B and was wondering if anyone out there knows of someone who makes up wiring harnesses for this tractor? Also I have bought a new 6 volt battery (725cca) and my problem is the starter #1107043 that came with the tractor wont turn her over. The Battery turns starter over when its on the work bench but when installed on the tractor it just does'nt do anything. This tractor did start with 1/4 turn of the crank and ran fine but since there's no wiring on it I need to get one or make one. How can I tell if the starters bad?..Thanks...dalton

One thing you need to check is the starter mounting hole and starter face for a good clean contact area. The starter grounds through the case and a bad connection here will cause the type of problem you're experiencing. For that matter, check ALL the grounds in the electrical system.
New wiring harnesses are available from several sources, but Steve at B&B in New Jersey can make up a harness for you to fit exactly what you have on your tractor. Check out the link below.

YOU ALSO MAY HAVE A BAD ARMATURE. I HAD ONE ON A JD A FEW MOMTHS AGO DO ME THE SAME WAY,IT WORKED FINE ON THE BENCH, BUT NOTTING ON THE TRACTOR. AFTER I PULLED IT APART, I FOUND A SMALL BAD SPOT ON THE ARMATURE. WORKED GREAT AFTER I FIXED THAT.

Check your starter switch thoroughly. The contacts get worn & eroded over time. The can be built up with brazing rod if you're careful. Also make sure your started rod isn't bottoming out on the return spring and not making full travel to close the switch. Had that happen on mine.

If your battery cables are not at least 1 AWG or bigger, replace them. If there is any sign of deterioration, replace them with 0 AWG. Cabeles and connections are the key to starting on 6 volts.

You have to make sure all connections are good and tight, Most atuo parts stores will check starters for free. Sounds like you either have a weak starter of bad connections.
