I installed a new zentih 12522 universal carb tractor ran like night and day no more thick black smoke!!! tried to set the carb adjustments did not seem to do anything! I turned the main jet adjustment all the way in I figured that the tractor would die out but it did not. I am trying to figure out what now is wrong can anybody please help me???

On a Zenith the main adjustment needle does nothing at idle..only when power is needed. The idle mixture screw is the one up high below the mounting flange. If your engine is smoking black at idle UNSCREW this a quarter turn at a time. Seems backwards, but this direction adds air to the idle mixture and leans it out. When the smoking stops check your idle speed. Adjust this with the screw on the main throttle shaft to a comfortable speed (I think 400 rpm on a B). Run the tractor under power with a modest load. If it coughs or loses power UNSCREW the main jet, giving it more gas until performance is where you want it.

The Allis carbs have a preset jet for anything above fast idle. There is no adjustment. The adjustment screw is for idle only. To adjust it, idle down (but not so slow as to trip the impulse in the mag), and adjust the screw to get smooth idle. You'll know it's right when it jumps easy from idle to fast real strong. My B seems to be happy idling alittle rich. Enjoy!
