D4006 deutz

i have a chance to buy a D4006 deutz tractor for 2800 dollars. the data tag says "klockner-humbolt-deutz AG" and i beleive the serial number is 7538-3508. this is a two wheel drive three cyl deisel tractor with three point hitch,live power,high low range tranny and remote hyd. the tires are pretty good with no age cracks. can anyone tell me how old it is, how many horsepower and are these reliable tractors. i dont know much about deutz tractots but this seems to me like it should be a 4000 or 4500 dollar tractor. any input on this subject would be appreciated. thanks.

My father-in-law had a new green, 3 cylinder in the middle 70's. I remember it was extremely fuel efficient and reliable. It was around 40 HP.

A 4006 is about 40 hp, and should be as reliable as a hammer if it's had any care at all. Also, you will find it is very thrifty with fuel. That's not something to sneeze at these days...

I really need some help....Anybody know where to get the orange paint for the wheels on a 100-06 Deutz??? Perhaps a paint code or something??

I have one of those and would like to have another one. 38hp and pretty powerful for it's package size. It is very important to keep the cooling area around the pistons clean and the plenum for the fan clean. If the tractor is dark green it is a 60's model.
