Hello everyone,

I have a WD with a 3pt. hitch. What would be the maximum weight of the implements I'd be able to use with the 3pt. hitch on this tractor? Thanks for your help.

I have 500 lbs of weight attached to the front of a WD, on the side rails. The hydraulics and 3-point will pick up enough weight to take the weight off of the front wheels. I have a antique back hoe and I have to be careful to retract and elevate the boom (bringing everything closer to the rear wheels) before I move the tractor. Without doing so I can't steer the tractor.

Hi Gene,

I have 2 - 400lb. weights that I used to use on an old disk harrow. I could probably one of them on the front of my WD, if necessary. Thanks.

I`ve seen all kinds of different 3 point adapters. Some stick way farther out the back than others. The farther back your weight is, the less of it it`s going to take to pull your front end off the ground. No way to really know until you try picking something up. A good Allis hydraulic pump will pick up way more than it takes to pull your front end off the ground.

Hi John,

You have a point there....<< No way to really know until you try picking something up >> Unfortunately (at the moment) I don't have any 3pt. equipment right now. I was thinking of changing my trailing 5' rotary cutter to a 3pt. hitch type. I don't want the cutter to be sitting on the ground and have the front end of the tractor pointing up in the air as if it were headed for the moon. Thanks.

Any mounted implement your tractor can reasonably pull should be no problem for the three point hitch to handle. You will need front weights on your tractor for some of the heaver plows. I run front weights on my D17 when I pull my 8ft disk. You will most likely limit out your hydraulic lift capacity before the three point.

Hi, Worth

There are really only two pieces of equipment that I'm concerned about the weight. Those are my 5' rotary cutter and my John Deere two-disc plow. Thanks.

With the front properly weighted you should have no problems with the implements you described.
