Our local AC dealer sold close to (100) new 190 XT's.Back in the mid-late 1960's they used to rule the 9000,12000,15000 lb classes at the pulls in my area. They were turning around 150 horses. Those 301's are great engines.

Our dealer never sent out a new XT turning less than 120 horses. Some stayed together and some didnt.

With alot of work you can get a 190 XT down under 6000 lbs.It doesnt take much to get 150-160 horses out of one.Used to be one in my area in the early 70's that pulled the 7-9 SS class at over 400 horses.Had a big turbo and inline pump, etc.

There has been over 40 190XT's in my area. Only one of these tractors has not had a problem jumping out of 3rd gear. If they have alot of heavy pulling, your are going to have problems.

The XT would make a good puller. You can get it down to 8500# without too much work. I know a few guys that cranked 120 to 130 hp out of there tractor. If you just ran it for short periods of time I'm sure you could get more than that.

Stock they put out some where around 90-100HP. Some of the early ones had a problem with jumping out of gear.
