bought distributor to take the place of the magneto from Walts Tractor parts. I want to make sure that this installs just like the owners manual says for the tractor installs at the fire mark on the flywheel is this true?? I have the repair manual for the model G,Band C and the CA
in the section for the B and the C does not talk about the mag or the distributor if you go to the section for the CA it tells you how to install the distributor says to use the center mark on the fly wheel is this what I should use?? Also how do you adjust the points on the distributor correctly??

turn the motor by hand untill the TDC is seen on the flywheel and the #1 piston is on the compression stroke (intake valve just closed- check compresion thru plug hole). Stick the distributor in the hole and turn untill the point just starts to open, and the rotor is pointed at the #1 plug wire. you can raise it up, turn a few teeth, and reinstall if is not pointed at #1 wire. turn till the point starts to open (on the cam lobe) and clamp in that positon. --- note that the distributor has a centrifugal advance inside. you can grab the weights and twist and it will move 30 degrees. if you set the crank at the FIRE mark, then twist the advance, it should just start to open the point on the cam lobe. this will happen after the motor is running above 1100 rpm.
