How to value a WC or WD.

Hi, I'm looking to buy a tractor/loader from a local dealer. These are old tractors-I don't know years. Both are reversed loaders (like a Honey Bee.) Both have pretty heavy-built loaders on them. Both have sat outside for an unknown period of time (I'd never seen a reversed tractor before.) The controls all seemed to move. I don't know much about engine condition, but I didn't see any sign of a frozen-cracked block. I did not check if they were seized. WC has a can over the exhast pipe. WD has a 90-degree bend in it, so the exhaust is directed straight back. The WD does have a 540 PTO and drawbar behind the loader; the WC does not. Dealer says he could get either one running. I just saw them sitting out on a lot.

But I don't know how much these are worth. I'm looking for suggestions on how to figure that out.

What you picture is certainly not a speed patrol. It is a reversed WC or WD, but the picture is not clear enough to determine which. Simple answer- does it have Power-Shift wheels or not. If not, it is a reversed WC. It looks more like non-PS wheels= WC. Either way the value is not that much different. Dealer should get it working first or sell it dirt cheap- little over scrap value. If it was used for loading fertilizer, corrosion is a major issue on most parts.

I also have pictures of what the dealer called a WD, but I would prefer to crop out some of the other stuff in the photo before uploading. What are power shift tires?

Power-Shift wheels let you change wheel tread without jacks. Four eccentric lugs on each wheel- loosen them, drive the tgractor forward or back with the opposite brake held tight, and the wheel shifts in orf out. AC invented them, first came out on the WD in 1948. Wheel center will have an eight bolt pattern, WC will have 5-6?, can't remember which. No ps wheels on WC tractors.

I would rather guess that it is a W speed patrol, they may have made a WD45, but I would tend to say most likley no. Dave NE IA

Well depending on what the tires are like that could be as low as $500 but as high as $3000-5000. It all depends on how well they run if they run how the tries are and how well the loader works

A couple of weeks ago at a local auction, a good straight WD w/ wide front, 90% tires, wheel weights, nice looking loader (2 buckets), plus a rear blade...sold for $750.00...problem was, it was siezed up. Owner said it had happened over the past few months while sitting outside...so????

That brings me to another question "Mr. Old"...there is a WD45 Speed Patrol coming up for sale just down the road this Saturday. Value wise, do these bring a premium over just a run of the mill WD45 in comparable condition??? I think you have one, don't you?

I don`t believe there was a WD45 Speed Patrol. Some one may have put a WD45 motor in one, but I believe they were made based on the WC tractor, not the WD and especially not the WD45. If they are complete and of course depending on condition, they do bring quite a premium over the tractor.

Yes I have one, drop me an e-mail and I'll send you a picture of it before and after. They bring a little more then just a WC tractor which is what they are based on. One in running condition can bring $1000 easy and one like what mine is like can bring from $5000-10,000. As I sadi drop me an e-mail and I'll tell you all I can about them. There nice toys to have but you need 4 hands to run one well. LOL BTDT to many times. Shoot I just used my WC speed patrol the other day when we have a down pour. Also pictures on the web site

No, these tractors are WC and WD. I"ll trust the dealer that far, despite the fact the paint is bad enough to not be able to easily tell. Indeed, the paint is all white and pink on the WC, and I"m told that"s from fertilizer handling.

Since this would be the first tractor I've considered buying, I'd like some opinions on what it might be worth.

Thats what is called a trac-omotive or something like that. I pasted one that was almost like that up a month ago for $750. It was very ruff and the steering box was bad.
