CA FRONT END CHANGEOVER?????

I'm in the process of switching my grandfather's CA back to widefront now that I've finally found a donor tractor, but having never done it, I'm unclear of what all has to come of each one to switch. At first glance it appears that 4 bolts on the underside come out of both,but I get the
impression it's a little more complicated. Does anyone have any insight on this?

You have to ghange the whole gear box in front. The wide front gear box has two bearings in it to keep the steering plate stable. the bottom will not come out by removing the four bolts. I have a parts manual that has a picture of both if you would like a copy send me an e mail and I will try to make copies to send to you. Herb Brady

You can do it that way. I switched mine by taking the complete unit off the front of the engine. By removing the four bolts you will be able to reshim or check the shims to make sure the stearing does not have extra play in that area. Saves yourself one step if you end up having extra play in the steering wheel. I would probably switch the complete unit and the narrow front would be ready to sell if you would want to sell it.

BLOCK THE FRONT OF THE TRACTOR UP. REMOVE THE STEERING ROD COUPLING, THEN REMOVE THE RADIATOR, REMOVE THE 4 NUTS ON THE BLOCK. THIS WILL ALLOW YOU TO CHANGE THE ENTIRE GEAR BOX AND FRONT END TOGETHER. BOB
