Well I have 2 differant oil pans and 2 differant valve covers for my C. One set is pressed steel and the other set is cast iron. Which set would you put on and why would you??

i'd use the stamped metal only because of certain terrains,like brush would just dent it or a rock. cast would probaly break. as far as the rocker cover, the 2 holed cover was for the '42 ? or older. my '41 c has the 2 bolt. the newer models started using the 4 hole, witch makes a better cover, by equal pressure. so it would depend on if your looking for org. or just to GET'R DUN.

Cast iron will add strength to the engine block. Since there is no frame that should be of value.

Rich, use the cast pan, it will help keep the engine at operating temp when cold and pull heat away from oil in summer time. And You won't have to worry about accidently poking limb or anything else through.

Now just a minute, lets reconsider this option of using those cast iron items. Instead of using you them on your "C"...Just ship them to ME....LOL

Keith, I'm useing the cast stuff figure since it came off that engine I'll put it back on that engine. I just wanted to know what others would do if they had the option. If all goes well I'll have it running this after noon. Just came in to take a brake and also get the coil from off the table by the computer. LOL. Going to hook up the coil, hot wire it and use my big 1 quart gas tank and see if it tries to start or not. If not then the fun of finding out what is wrong LOL

Functionaly there is little to choose from. The BE/CE engines dont suffer from leaks at the pan, valve cover like the W series do. Only certain years are "correct" with cast pan/cover but I dont know what they are? If it were mine Id put the stamped parts on the tractor and sell the cast ones on Ebay where people seem to think a lot of them.

I would think that the cast pan would be a better seal. wouldn't warp like a tin one would.

as a puller, I'd use the stamped steel.(less weight). as a restorer, the cast makes them "seam" older

I used the cast iron on my two little Allis pullers to get more weight up front. Div one does not allow hanging weights on the front in our area.
