Hello i have A Allis Chalmers Model C that Seems to Like to use oil. at Idol t spits and gags and seems to miss, but when throttled up runs fine. sometimes it will foul out the plugs if left at idol for a time. I Have not done a commpression test but i dont think it the rings. I Have took The rocker arm cover off and looked at the works. could it be somthing to do with valves. Please respond and let me know what i would have to do to fix this and how much it might be. thansk. j.S.

Could be a number of problems. You may have bad valve guides, bad rings, stuck rings. Also if you useing a multi weight oil that can also be a problem with an old engine. Cost to rebuild the engine can be up around $500 plus depending on how much you do and if you do the work or hire it done. You could also have gas in the oil which would cause you problems like that. If you don't shut off the gas when you park it you maybe getting gas in the oil and thinning it out a lot.
