A friend of mine put new spark plug wires on his WC that has a magneto. He used modern radio suppressive spark plug wires. The tractor would start and idle fine, but, would not pull a load at all. An oldtimer told us that was not the kind of spark plug wires we should use. He claimed that sometime that a tractor with a magneto would not even start with these wires or would be hard to start. We replaced the wires with new spark plug wires with solid multi-strand copper conductor and modern insulation. The tractor runs great and pull a load better than ever. I put the same suppressive wires on my WD, got the same results. Put the original wires back on and it ran as good as ever. Has anyone else had a similar experience with these spark plug wires?
