What type of oil should the air filter cup have in it and how much? I got the tractor without an air breather cap, so the oil filter was full of water. I purchased a parts and service manuals for it expecting one of them to have this info in it, but can't find it anywhere. The parts manual does say this filter is on most WCs with the serial number trailing WC-74330 and most WFs trailing WF-1904, at least thats how Im interpreting it. It looks like the oil information may be on the transfer instructions decal on the side of the filter. Mine has no decals.

Thanks for the reply"s. I used the same that I put in the crankcase for now. There is a level line in the cup. I could see it clearly once I got it cleaned out. :-)
I was a little surprised the manuals I just purchased don"t have any fluid info in either of them. Is anyone aware of a manual that would have details of what grade fluids should be used and the amounts used? I have the reproduction original AC shop manuals. I"ve seen a couple more out there, the "I & T" version of the service manual, and an operators manual. The air filter and crankcase oil are only the beginning. I should go through the complete tractor and get some fresh fluids in it. Who knows how long ago any of them were changed. By the looks of the crankcase oil, its been quite a few years.

Lube recommendations are in operator manuals- not service manuals. Op tells you how to maintain it, svc how to fix it.

Looks like I have one more manual to buy. Should be in pretty good shape after I get the Operators manual. It"s good to know that if I don"t have the info I"m looking for, there is a huge amount of knowlege out here, and many are willing to help out. Thanks for the help :-)

AC used the same air cleaner assembly on the styled WC and styled WF- the serial numbers you mention; all the way through the WD45. Easy to find them when in need of parts. Op manual says to use same oil in the air filter as in the crankcase, according to ambient temps.

i dont know about WC specifically but every oil bath filter i've owned took 5w and there was a level line inside cup...i've seen folks run 30 and even 40w in em but at todays gas prices you dont want fuel system sucking anymore than it has to

Rick; A good rule of thumb, is to use the samething that you use in the crankcase, and change it every time that you change the crankcase oil. LE

You use the same oil in it as you do in the engine. Most have a line on them and also words that say something like oil level. If your doesn't then you fill it to the top of the center cup in the oil cup
