hello. The '34 wc wont run in high range. its timed right, i know. And when I rev it up, it sputters and back-fires. But when in low range, it purrs like a kitten. I think I'll move on to the carb now, but i dont really know how to adjust it for high range. Any help would really be nice>

Not sure if this applies to yours or not, but I had a 36 that I overhauled with the same problem. Turns out there is a small air line that goes from the air filter side of the choke plate to I forget where. Long story short, even after a carb soak it was still plugged with a mud dauber's nest. Wish I was close to the tractor to get a picture of what I'm talking about.

I think you should try to replace the fuel filter(if you have one). Or i suggest taking the fuel line off and blowin it out with an air compresser to make sure the line is free of dirt and other junk.

could be a lack of fuel flow from the tank.

A lot of times if an engine back fires it means that the carb is running lean or set to lean. Which would also cause it to spit and spytter
