Would any of you Gents know where a guy could pick up a short block for a 1936 Allis Chalmers WC 201 cu in? I have a cracked block but the water doesn"t seem to be getting into the oil. Can this block be welded up and saved?

JR, some people will call it a cracked block if there are cracks between the web between the cylinders (sleeves). If this is the crack you discuss, they are not a problem. Put the engine together and use it. Now if you have a crack on the side of the block and anti-freeze is leaking out, this can be fixed by a good welder. It is cast iron so there is a special technique to weld it and have it hold. I've heard of people making the fix with JB Weld but I think that is temporary.

Call your local tractor junk yard. Or watch on Ebay. There is a block available there almost at all times.

I have a complete WD-45 engine which will bolt in. It needs some TLC. Don't know if that would help you or not.
