Did you get that motor pulled yet on the D 15? I have been working on my latest hobby tractor - D 15 Series II and kept thinking about your post and me wrestling with replacing the U Joints in the steering shaft. So tonight I got the service manual out and read about pullng the motor.

As i suspected after wrenching on mine, my manual says to disconnect the coupler holding the front of the steering shaft to the front pedistal and also the bearing for the steering shaft on the left side frame and that should let things get out of the way for the rest of the engine removal process. My front coupler is held on the shaft by a roll pin.

It was challenge enough just to get the knuckles out fo the steering joints.

no need to mess with the u joint. just pull the front pedestal and the steering shaft comes right out. BOB

I was working on that darn steering universal just yesterday. Mine appears to be a rivet of some sort that dosen't appear to go all the way through. (Although on the upper shaft it goes all the way through). Tonight I think I will try drilling it out and later on replace it with a bolt.
