I recently finished overhauling my 1938 B. I am having trouble getting the oil pump to prime. I found a few methods out from other messages on this forum, however I wanted to make sure I had the right parts. The pipe the goes down into the oilpan from the pump connects to a sump. Is there supposed to be anything in that part? A screen or filter or something? If so, where do I get it?

Also, if it is my pump wearing out that causes this, where is a good place to buy one?

yes there is a suction bell on the end of the tube with a screen in it. to prime the motor you need to take the TEE off the 1/8 inch pipe that stick out of the bell housing above the pump. pump oil into the pipe with a standard oil gun. sometimes it helps to just take the U shaped tube off the filter and stick it on sideways and pump the oil into that backward toward the oil pump. make sure you have a very low pressure gauge. you only get 15 psi.
