OK fellas, I've been working on my D-17 series 2 serial #40912 and will be painting it this summer. I'm fixing oil leaks and have it running real well and am in the process of cleaning. This will stop for a few months as I run an agronomy service and we will be busy as farmers put in crops. I need to know what decals I need. The aluminum plates on the side shine like glass. Do these take decals or are they left as is? Also did this series have the oval D17 decals. Silver rims rear? White or orange wheels? White grill? Pictures of paint and decals as original for this series would be appreciated or where I can find them. Thanks Jim

Go to Lyle Wacker Decals in Nebraska. You'll get exactly what you need and nothing extra. They'll need model, year and serial number.

Very good to work with, best decals around!

Thanks to both of you. I'll be able to get what I need and know what I'm doing. That's definitly an improvement, just ask my wife.

Wacker also includes photos showing where the decals go. Very helpful!

From Terry Dean's book- Illustrated Buyer's Guide: Persian Orange No. 2 tractor with cream grille and wheel centers, metal hood plate with black letters and cream background; silver cylinder-type muffler.
