New owner of a D-12? Did the web search thingy and have found serial# breakdowns, and even more confused. Throw out bearing locked up and ate arms up on pressure plate. New kit had a pilot bearing that tractor didn't have. Forgive me, but not a tractor expert. We could have converstaions on British cars tho. Number on left engine flange is 10-1373S, number on adjacent xmission flange is not as readable, but looks likt D 7(?) 0(?) 1140. Looks to be original paint, hood has D-12 decal on it. Beautiful running tractor, prime candidate for a little restoring, But wish I new for sure what I have. Any help would be deeply appreciated.

The tractor serial number is on the left front flange of the torque tube, starts with D and the model, then up to five digits. They are stamped, often hard to read- try some paint remover to make them more visible, or careful wire brushing.

DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE 10XXX ON THE ENGINE FLANGE, BUT THE D12 AND THE D10 HAD THE SAME ENGINE. SO THIS IS POSIBLE. D12 WAS WIDER THEN THE D10. D10 WAS STANDARD WIDE FRONT AND D12 CAME WITH NARROW FRONT, WIDE FRONT, AND SINGLE FRONT WHEEL. D10 REAR WAS ABOUT 48 TO 50 INCHES WIDE AS D12 WAS 72 OR SO INCHES WIDE.
SEEM TO ME THAT THE SERIAL # WAS ON THE BELL HOUSING FLANGE, AND THE ENGINE SERIAL # WAS ON THE BLOCK NEAR THE AIR CLEANER. EARLY MODELS WERE 138 AND LATER WERE 149 CU. IN. ENGINES.
