I have what i thought was a wd45 due to the curved longer shifter but serial number is wd138137 did late Wd's have that shifter and or is there any other things to look for?? Thanks For the help.

In the spring of 1967 we were working a WD45D pretty hard and Pooped the Diesel Engine. It got put out behind the Crib until Winter when we took the Engine out of a WD and put it into the WD45D Chassis.The Wd was no loss as it was not used much anyway. The New WD/WD45 worked fine for lite work until it was sold. So the point of the Story is that at one time there was a mixed up WD45 running around and maybe it still is.

Curved shift lever started with the constant-mesh transmission on the WD at Tractor number 127008, 1952. WD45 started at tractor number 146607. 1953. WD45 engine did not have a right side plate. Standard rear tires were wider.

On the right side of the engine is there a valve cover plate, inspection plate. If there is a plate there that bolts on you at least have a WD engine sitting in it. But if it doesn't have that plate then its a WD-45 engine.

That's the engine number. On the WD's they start with "WD...", and on the WD45's they start with "45..." The serial number is on the rear of the differential near the left brake housing cover. You can then check that serial number against the list that you can pull from the hot button "Serial Numbers" on the lower left of this screen

Yes, the late WD's had the curved shifter.
