help! Have resurfaced head & rebuilt injectors. Loader runs but has no power & blows black smoke - less once warm, but heavier when given fuel - I've been told the injector pump may need timing (retarded??)or ?? It is simms minimec p51841A.
If this is the case, does anyone have specs & instructions for timing? other suggestions?
All input greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Might want to check for a restricted intake as well.....not enough air will cause symptoms you describe.

Even a restricted exhaust would do that, but the noise reduction would be very noticeable.

i dont have a timing procedure, but black smoke means way too much fuel, and if you have too much fuel and no power, then i agree you are way off on the timing on the fuel pump. how did you install. i dont remember the exact procedure, but you have to get the timing mark on the flywheel at FIRE mark then adjust the pump. also have to get fuel pump gear on the right tooth when sliding into the drive.
