Any one know what plugs are supposed to be in a 1957 Allis D-14 gas? They need replacing badly and the ones in there aren't original. Thanks

I went through three manuals before I found an actual reference. The first two simply said Autolite Champion and AC but not which plug. Finally I found a reference in the Allis Chalmers shop manual. It was for an Autolite A-7. I've always used AC-45 which may be an equivalent. Where you buy you plugs should be able to cross. The gap is 0.025".

Thanks Denny,

I appreciate you looking for me, I don't have any manuals for it. The plugs in it now are out of a 50's chevy car, at least they lasted!

I'd guess there are 25 different plugs that would work. For best results, the end of the center electrode should protrude from the base of the plug 0.060 to 0.100". These are called hot plugs and resist fouling. The D-14 fouls pretty easily especially if it is left to idle for extended periods of time. Brand new, Allis recommended idling for short periods only to avoid fouling. It is not the wet oil foul but black and souty. Avoid Champion plugs. Allis doesn't work well with them. AC and Autolite are better.
