The Model "U"AC was produced from 1929[U1] thru 1952 with U1 thru U7404 with Continental Engines. Later Models had an AC Engine. There were 20,000 "U" Tractors produced from 1929 thru 1952.My Dad had one bought new in 1948. Does your U have a Small Idler Roller above the front Axle on the right Hand side? This was to keep a Flat Belt from hitting the Axle and shortening the Belts life.---- The U was the first Tractor to be fitted with Rubber Tires when in 1932 they put a pair of 48-12 Airplane tires on a U and sent it on the show circuit. In 1933 a fellow named Barney Oldfield covered a measured Mile at a speed of 64.28 MPH with a U equipped with special Gearing.----From C.H.Wendel's Book Allis-Chalmers Tractors,History of Advance -Rumley,Monarch Crawlers and Equipment.
