Tranny Fluid in D17

Hi, can you guys tell me what to add for tranny fluid in a 58 D-17? I have to add some and am not sure what they use for the tranny.

Most people use a universal tractor fluid. It is called hy-tran or other similar names.It can be bought at most Walmarts, Autozone, TSC, etc...It comes in 2.5 and 5 gallon containers. Make sure you check the fluid level with the lift arms fully extended in the up position.

I was wondering if you could attach front loader to a D-17 allis chalmers and have live hydralics from the tractor itself without attaching any other pumps.

So the Tranny and the hydraulics use the same sump (same fluid) is this correct? I was not sure if it was a common sump or seperate for the hyd. and for the transmission.

The hydrualic system is separate from the trans. The hyd filler is in front of the trans on the right side. The trans filler is on top of the trans by the gearshift. It's easier to by one kind of fluid than two.
