they just did one in the "HOOK". I think he went 4.6 x 6" stroke

Gleaner A's have a 6 cylinder power unit but it is 230 cid. C, C-II ,and G's use the 6 cylinder 262 cid power unit. The starters are the same for the 230 and 262 power units.

The two E's we owned were both 226-4cylinder engines.

gleaner E and E3 had 226 cid gas engines. bore 4in. stroke 4.5in.

You are correct.Its a 4 cyl 226 CI with 4" bore and 4.5" stroke.

My Dad bought a new 1966 E Gleaner.

i was under the impression the E's had a 6 cylinder gas engine with 262 displacement...supposedly everybody uses them to replace the diesel 262.

The C2 combine used a 262 gas engine. Maybe some others did as well. The C2 diesel was the 262 turbodiesel, same as the D19.
