Went out last night to move my C around since we had a 54 degree in February. Tractor's been sitting all winter, started right up. Let it warm up and shut her down. Went back to start it again and no crank. Battery is charged, there's a spark down at the starter but it doesn't turn over, nothing! Any ideas what could have happened? I checked everything I could think of and still nothing. All the wires are new, all new switches, new battery, etc. Thanks in advance!!!!

Check to be sure the operating rod is really closing the starter switch. If the switch is worn, it may bottom out on the return spring instead of the starter switch. Bending th e rear guide for the operating rod usually fixes it. Good luck,
Paul

We have a 1942 C since new. Only after a few years of use, the starter would sometimes "lockup" at the Bendix. Generally, you can free the starter but puting the tractor in 3rd gear, taking ahold of one of the rear tires, and rocking the tractor back and forth. This will generally unlock it.

This will happen more in cold weather and/or if the battery is weak or run down.

I tried tapping on it and nothing. Tomorrow I'm going to try taking it off and see if it's stuck?

Yep that could also be the problem and the bendex has jammed on the ring gear. Had that happen just the other day on one of my tractors. Took the bolts loose and I was back up and running in about 5 minutes

The starter its self may have gone bad on you. Try tapping on it a couple times. If it turns over then you have brushes going bad in side of it.
