D-17 Stuck Engine

Hello: New member - first post. Just bought A/C D-17 with stuck
engine. Been putting automatic transmission fluid in the cylinders.
Put rear of tractor on blocks, hoping to turn rear wheels with the
machine in gear, but can't get it in gear. The gear shift works fine,
but the rear tires just spin like it's in neutral. Is this a clutch
problem, or maybe the forward/reverse foot pedal? ? Any help would be
appreciated. I want to get this thing running !

First off if your going to try to do it that way ONLY one tire should be off the ground. But I have found that a starter will turn over the engine with more power then you get from the tire trick. Just tap the starter button or start position on the switch. I've popped a good number of engines loose and have found the best way is with the starter.

Also I just happened to reread your post, but if both rear wheels are off the ground and one turns one direction and the other wheel turns the opposite direction, it is the normal operation of the differential. Got to hold one wheel to put any effort on the transmission/engine. Roger
