I am restoring my AC-B, and I read in a forum by D13 about being able to buy an overrunning unit to get live Power. Does any one know what it is and where I can find one. I have a 5' Woods deck. ...Thank You....

A lot of folks call an over-running clutch live power. However, it is not live power. It is a safety device to prevent implements with large amounts of stored energy from driving the rear wheels of the tractor when the clutch is disengaged. Such an implement is a shredder. I feel, from my experience, that an over-running clutch on a shredder is better than having live power. In fact, my primary mowing tractor has live power (D-14). But I still use an over-running clutch on it. It makes shifting easier.

I think every farm store in the US carries these items (for sure Tractor Supply does.). Remember that a B has a 1 1/8" spline so the over-running clutch must have the 1 1/8" inside spline. Every shredder that I've seen uses the 1 3/8" spline.

Later model B's (I believe about the time the C became the CA) got the larger shaft.

I'm always learning and have alot to learn thus stated. Terms varies, but I wonder if he is not refering to a overiding clutch that if your bush hog is running full bore and you depress the clutch it breaks the direct drive. Thus you could not stop the forward motion of your tractor (if in a forward gear)till the RPM's of the bush hog decides to stop. Years ago many guys got shoved into fences, and into ditches because they had no over riding clutches. Dave NE IA
