I called my Agco dealer and ordered three bolts and nuts for my connecting rods on my WC. The price almost took my breath away. For three bolts and three nuts, the price was $61.05 plus shipping. This price is beyond belief and is almost 10X value. I paid it with serious hesitation because it was the last remaining obstacle to getting my WC back in the field. It felt like something between highway robbery, extorsion and blackmail. I guess big business really doesn't have a conscience anymore.

I think I jumped too quick. I could have gone to Tractor Supply and gotten a grade 8 NF for a couple of dollars and would have worked fine (following some mods to the head). Oh Well! Live and learn.

I went to a NH dealer couple years ago to get a 1 1/4 inch nf piston bolt for a hyd.cyl.,they wanted$52.00!!Went to a nut and bolt place and got one for $5.00!!Bob.

You should try to buy rod bolts for a Case. Heart attack..... .....

Denny: The Agco dealer here is a goooood friend but I have found others less costly. Sandy Lake sent a rear end dipstick that even with frieght saved me $10. AS you do also I still use ebay and other sources when possible. Hope the WC does well after repairs. My 17 should be ready to start paint this summer. Good luck and God Bless. Jim

Yeah the price of EVERYTHING his gotten really expensive. I would say there had to be something special about those bolts to be that much. cut 1 of the bolts that holds the extendable axle in the tube of my 484 IH when I found the nut was beyond rusted on. That set me back something like that because it was a special stepped bolt. I used to do some really cheap brushhogging, but that was before I had to shell out a few grand in tractor repairs for a new clutch and some other stuff that needed fixing.

That does sound expensive; most of the parts for my B I have gotten at the AGCO dealer either matched or beat other places.

A few years ago, I was bushogging with my old JD hog and threw a blade off. I managed to find the blade but the bolt was long gone. I go to the local Temco dealer and take the blade...he sorts through all of his bolts but nothing would fit...one was just a hair to big around...I mean just a hair! His price? $6 for nut and bolt. I was forced to go to my friendly JD dealer to get one. $22.15 later, I had the needed bolt and nut in hand.....almost 4X the cost!!!!! it amounts to extortion and nothing less.

I don't know - sounds like an economic opportunity to me. I personnaly know nothing about machining a bolt, but I would think an enterprising fella who had such knowledge and access to the tools/resources could carve out a nice little business niche for himself. I can't imagine it costs near what those fellas are charging to produce those nuts and bolts. If you knew what you were doing, you could compete quite fiercely against the big shops. Smoke them on price and service. Of course there are shortcomings (if someone needs that bolt RIGHT NOW you probably would be at a disadvantage), but there might just be a lemonade possibility with this box of lemons.

Can't help myself. Always the optimist. Of course, I don't have the moxie to start such a business myself!
