D-17 Lift Arms

How can the lift arms be removed on a Series III D-17 if no torches are around? Got the snap rings off, shined up where splines connect, Used PB & Kroll a dozen times, nearly broke my gear puller; These are tight. On a 45 or WD the entire assembly can be removed but on a 17 it would involve taking off the back assembly; looks like new gasket & probably loss of fluids. I don't claim to be much of a mechanic-just have two bent lift arms!

Two bent lift arms? Can you straighten them without removal? Jack/chain assembly? Otherwise- like others say, time , penetrant, etc., and the puller.

If you do not have a torch the only recourseyou have is time. Put your gear puller on the arm, tighten it up and walk away. Then check the puller every day by retightening the puller. This will finally work but it will take TIME. When you put the new arms on use grease or anti-sieze on the splines so next time they will be easier to remove.
